Hope all is well in this beautiful first week of September. As promised, I'm trying to update the news page a little more often!

This summer was busy with lots of gigs and meeting up with friends--old and new! This past June, I was featured in a Japanese documentary about jazz legend Billie Holiday. I spent the day with a crew from NHK, Japan's public television network, and we filmed parts of rehearsals, performances and an interview. Parts of the shoot are featured in the documentary--it was an honor to be asked and included in the piece!

In addition to my regular gigs, I'm really excited about an upcoming performance in my old hometown of Easton, MD. On Saturday, Sept. 13, at 7 p.m., I'll be performing with the FAB Trio at Coffee East. Join us! Tickets are available at www.annapolistickets.com

I can't believe it's been a few months since posting. I hope that you are all doing well and enjoying the summer. I have had a blast eating fresh produce, taking walks outside, and doing a little traveling.

Join me this week at Jordan's on Thursday, Aug. 14 at 7 p.m. and at the Caroline Summerfest in Denton on Friday, Aug. 15 at 5 p.m. I'll also still be on the Eastern Shore on Sunday at Cafe Sado at 5:30 p.m. Doesn't everyone need a little live music in their lives? Join us!

Hello everyone! It's still not as warm as I'd like it, so to compensate, head down to trendy K Street for some Italian food and great live jazz at Teatro Goldoni this Friday, March 28 at 7:30 p.m. Check my calendar page for details!

Start your February 2008 off right with more jazz! The Young Brothers Trio and I will be performing at the Kennedy Center's Millenium Stage on Friday, February 1 at 6 p.m. It's free, fun and best of all, we'll play some great standards and creative original compositions for you!

Get out of the cold and warm up with some jazz at the Mansion at Strathmore in North Bethesda, MD. I'll be there with the fantastic Young Brothers Trio! The Young Brothers are performing each Wednesday in January as a part of the Strathmore's Artist-in-Residence Program. I'm honored to sing with them as a part of this series! We'll be there on Wednesday, January 30 at 7:30 p.m.

Hello everyone! I hope you all are doing well and enjoying the New Year! Just wanted to update you on a couple of items in January 2008!


This month at Jordan's we're continuing to host superb jazz musicians each evening. We've been blessed to have local greats such as guitarists Tom Lagana and Steve Herbermann and pianists Mike Noonan and Jay Cooley.

We also have a special guest with us this month, bassist Paul Langosch, who will be appearing on Tuesday, January 22nd and Tuesday, January 29th. For those who haven't met Paul, he has a super gig playing bass for Tony Bennett, and is a great player and all around person! We're thrilled to have Paul with us while he's in the area!

Celebrate the holiday season with a Jazz Advent Service! Join myself and the Young Brothers for an evening of great music and fellowship!

Come to Kittamaqundi Church in Columbia, MD on the evening of December 16th at 7:30 p.m. for a little-bit-different musical and spiritual experience. We'll be offering some delicious new arrangements of some familiar and not-so-familiar Christmas tunes. But the evening isn't just a concert. Together with Tim, Al, Jeff and myself, Pastor Heather Kirk-Davidoff will be offering some reflections to draw us deeper into the mood of Advent--a time when we celebrate and anticipate the unexpected and the unknown.

The event is free--and all are welcome, regardless of conviction or creed. An offering will be received to support the work of the Agape House, one of KC's ministry partners, a neighborhood house in Baltimore, MD.

Come join is in Leesburg, VA for the Fall into the Arts Festival! The Young Brothers and I will do a one hour set on Saturday, September 29 th at 1:30 p.m. Join us for cool jazz, wine, great food and art, art art!

Sara is featured on the newly released Tales of Time, the debut album of the Young Brothers. Founded by brothers Tim (piano) and Alphonso, Jr. (drums) Young, the band´s repertoire is deeply rooted in the traditional jazz genre, but prides itself in its fresh and innovative approach to standards. Critics agree, calling it a "delightful" album "tastefully infused with new originals, resulting in one nice package of musical delights." (allaboutjazz.com) Sara was honored to be included in the project, and greatly enjoyed working with these gifted musicians.
